Construction Fire

The incident involved a serious fire in a Waste to Heat plant in a remote location during the final construction phase. Initial investigations on site by our adjuster revealed that there had been strained labour relations as the project was winding down. Consequently, a decision was taken to bring in Forensic Consultants whose investigations finally confirmed that the cause of fire stemmed from an incorrectly wired heating circuit.

Subcontractors submitted a grossly overstated claim for loss of tools. Our analysis of photographs taken immediately after the fire in affected parts of the building showed that few tools remained as the cleaning in preparation to handover was well advanced. This element of the claim was eventually dismissed.

The RHP loss adjuster conducted regular meetings with the Insured, which enabled progress of the material works to be maintained and overcame logistical difficulties .
