![]() Turbine Fire One of RHP's major challenges was a very serious fire in the turbine hall of a coal-fired power station. We were faced with a major incident - the station was entirely inoperable and return to service looked a long way off. Fortunately, despite the severity of the fire, there was no loss of life or serious injury. Through very careful control, communication and expertise, the station recommenced generation on one unit within 14 days, followed by generation on the second unit some four months later. A combination of our engineering and structural skills, along with in-depth knowledge of the market for power, allowed RHP loss adjusters to make decisions on loss mitigation, which ultimately saved both the Insurer and the Insured significant losses. |
