![]() Printing Press Misalignment A large multi-colour printing press started producing poor print results for no obvious reason. Assuming a breakdown or accidental damage had occurred, a claim was notified to Insurers under the company's machinery policy. Upon investigation it was discovered that the press side frames had distorted, causing major damage to the moving elements. However, further exploration showed that the problem was due to the press foundation having subsided; most probably because of the existence of old abandoned mine workings. RHP's loss adjusters suggested the claim should more properly be dealt with as subsidence under the company's Buildings policy, and this was accepted by Insurers. A new, more substantial foundation was built and the press relocated onto it. |
